‘Reflective Wait’- Llandilo Bridge Station with GWR 5700 Class PT, late 1950s
Llandilo Bridge Station, GWR 5700 Class PT

The row of houses and the distant hills are still there, but the rest of this scene has vanished. Having walked with my daughter to school down the road in the middle of the picture, in all sorts of weather, I got to wondering what it had been like when the railway had been there. After digging around and only able to find just a couple of pictures of this station, I felt inspired to paint this to try to capture the feel of the wait for the early morning train on the quiet rural platform in the often wet but spectacular and changeable mornings of the Towy Valley.

Oil on Canvas Panel, Size c.16"x12" Price £431 (+p&p medium)
