The sight of this beautiful engine climbing hard on a diverted ‘up’ working is enough to pull a glance from the farmworkers, who are also working into the evening stooking wheat, in what must have been a once common scene, soon to disappear from the countryside, in the 1950's. I must be one of very few of my generation to have carried out this task in earnest on a number of occasions!
