The joy of preserved steam reaching across the generations -
'Grandad and the Nine-eff' - BR Standard 9F 92212 at Alresford, Hampshire.
A grandfather calmly soaks up the nostalgic reminiscence of a lost era, while his grandchildren respond instinctively to the sudden release of steam around them, all rapt, and all in awe of this leviathan of the steam era. The locomotive in this painting (92212) is preserved by The Watercress Line Heritage Steam Railway and is depicted pulling out of their beautifully restored Alresford Station, Hampshire.
This print is taken from one of my original oil paintings.
