'We Fly to Freedom' - No. 86 Squadron Bristol Beaufort AW288 and crew: F/Sgt. J.C. Atkinson, P.O. F.S. Day, Sgt. C.R. Taylor, Sgt. J.O. Twelvetrees, 1942. - Full Size (16" x 12" Image) Limited Edition Print (25 Prints). £45.00 (+p&p)
Painting of Bristol Beaufort AW288 with crew preparing for flight at Portreath Airfield.

Superb FULL SIZE print – EXCLUSIVE LIMITED EDITION run of ONLY 25 PRINTS.

A truly collectible piece for any aviation enthusiast.

Each limited edition piece will be hand signed and numbered in pencil individually by me.

On 24/7/1942 Bristol Beaufort AW288 of 86 Squadron Coastal Command AW288 took off from RAF Portreath, Cornwall, headed for Malta, heavily loaded for the long flight ahead, but tragically crashed shortly afterwards, with the death of all four crew members. It seems likely that a fault developed in one engine and the pilot was attempting to find a place to put the aircraft down, but in attempting to avoid the aircraft crashing into a local village he was unable to do so. The painting commemorates the bravery and sacrifice of the crew.

This print is taken from one of my original oil paintings, created to commemorate the bravery of the aircrew involved in WW2.

This is a full size reproduction of the original 40cm x 30cm (c. 16" x 12") painting with a small border, making a total sheet size of 45cm x 35cm (c. 18" x 14") (+/- 3mm).

Please Note: Prints are produced in small batches. I normally have one copy of each print available for immediate dispatch within 2-3 days. Prints are carefully packed and sent flat.

This painting is also available as a:

Framed Small Open Edition
and
Unframed Small Open Edition
